THE REAL CAPE CORAL
Top 20 Things to do in Cape Coral List... or not to do depending on your BAC.
This article is not intended for any use in factual research. The list is not in any specific order. We will be adding to it!
Recently, SWFL has been ranked as the Nations #1 Place to retire, Top 10 places to open a business, Top 20 places to start a family, Top 10 Best places to invest in real estate and other niche awards. (insert millennial's pshh face here..). After living in Cape Coral for some time, Residents seem to develop a love/hate relationship with how they feel about their "town". Many long term youthful residents as I've come to realize, don't always praise their city as anything more than boring. One could assume that because they probably do the same thing every week with high blood alcohol levels and don't care to think outside the box to try or explore new fun things or activities. (go ahead have another one happy hour isn't over yet.) But what is so attractive about Cape Coral an investor or tourist might ask?
If you're not on your 4th Happy Hour Cocktail reading this, then you might be someone looking for something cool to do in our little waterfront wonderland.
Below you will find a list of some top things to do while visiting or living in Cape Coral!
*You can check these awesome places and things to do if your not to tied up calling in code violations for your neighbors wind chime volume levels*
(list is not in any specific order and I have no affiliation with any establishments)
1. Cape Coral Yacht Beach- (of course this first on the list. who doesn't want to hit the beach in SWFL.) In Cape Coral we have a little gem of our own. including a public pool, Fancy Shmancy Restaurant and Bar called the Boathouse with some pretty awesome live tunes, a
huge pier to take pictures, bird watch, people watch, go fishing, a covered playground, boat launch, and pavilions to rent out in case your family reunion is coming up at reasonable rental rates.
2.Sunsplash Waterpark- This isn't your average neighborhood city splashpad for kids. It's fun for all age levels. Cape Coral actually attracts people from all over Florida to this water-park. It's pretty involved, and loosely comparable to a Wet N Wild or Typhoon Lagoon at a fraction of the cost.
Not to mention its in your backyard. If you don't like kids. and don't like fun. I'd recommend you stay away and pop a fresh Busch light.
3. Escape the Cape- A cool trendy thing to do for a night out is the escape room. I highly recommend you try it out with a group since it's a bit pricey, but it makes for a great night to remember.
4. Marquee Cinemas- Yea... I know it's a movie theater. we have fire stick. blah blah, but if you haven't been lately, go check it out they have power leather recliners now! and I bet the screen and surround sound makes for a better movie experience than your 50inch Vizio.
5. Bowland or Headpinz - Bowling is bowling, but these 2 houses have really ramped up the alley experience and menus. The late night glow bowling is pretty cool, games rooms are huge with all newer gaming, and I've personally never had Meatloaf better than the bowling alley. Mark my words.
6. Mini Golf - There's 2 places to choose from one is right in front of Bowland Bowling Alley the other would be Gator Mikes a few minutes up the road. I cant say much about these 2 places, since I've been to dozens of more exciting courses. But it's there if you wanna putt putt.
7. Comedy Show - Personal Touch Catering Hall has comedy shows. Yes you've probably drove by 100 times and haven't even noticed this place, I don't know the show times but give them a call for laugh.
8. Real Golfing - Cape Coral has a few nice courses and a few not so nice courses if your on a budget. I'm not going to name which is which but I'm sure if you golf you know this by now lol. Long story short if you Golf Cape has GOLF!
9. Museums - Check out the Military Museum in South Cape. No admission and I hear it's great for the kids with treasure hunts and No admission fees, they accept donations. Also the Cape Coral Historical Society to learn about the history of Cape Coral and all of the Lies the Cape was built upon lol!
10. Gator Mikes - AKA Mike Greenwells Family Fun Park, is pretty fun whether you've been there 100x or not. Over the years they've cleaned up their act so if you haven't been in the last year or 2 give it a try. Gameroom, Putt Putt, Go Carts, Carnival Rides, Fish/Turtle Feeding, batting cages and they are even building a 3 story rock climbing wall to be completed soon
11. Cape Coral Indoor Athletics - They have open to the public days which I'm not 100%sure about but you can call ahead. Some of the elite local athletes and retired professionals are always having a training session for the kids and for the parents, these batting cages are the real deal with real baseballs not your rubber yellow balls your accustomed to living in the cape if you catch my drift...
12. TJ's Hatchet Hangout - Throw Darts? psh..... How about some axes! Yes this cool spot goes on the must do list if your in cape! something new and nothing but positive rave reviews!
13. Hit the Park for a Sunrise - I won't give you my secret park name for an amazing lakefront sunrise. but I will tell you its near the gulf Coast Village on Santa Barbara. There are so many parks in Cape Coral it's ridiculous. So I'm not going to name them all here as individual activities, but google some and see which one might be your new peaceful mind clearing spot! Recommendation: Jaycee Park Sunrise with a Coffee
14. Octagon Sanctuary (just outside Cape limits)- Yoooo! Big Cats and a thin chain link fence separating you both! It's a thrilling experience. Just go and you will see what I mean.
15. Walmart at 3am - If you're up late and haven't been drinking. Go people watching at Walmart. You will see some amazing creatures of the night.
16. Four Mile Cove Eco Walk - Need a refreshing long walk no better place than here. You might even spot some local wildlife. Get to the different milestones for amazing River views. The photo sessions turn out to be great Cover photos so I've heard :) and you can even rent a kayak!
17. Board & Brush - Feeling artistic? Grab a brush and a glass of wine while you create a masterpiece. There are many other Wine/Paint Studios so check your local reviews and pick your favorite!
18. BOATING - We live in a City where we have "THE MOST CANALS IN THE WORLD" yes it's true! Not Venice, Italy as you would assume! Rent a Boat, Go on a Boat Tour, Buy a boat! go on a charter fishing boat, the only Cape Coral Law Requirement is you do this at least every thirty days! (ok maybe untrue, but why the hell not we live in Cape Coral)
19. FISHING - Fishing from land is obviously not as cool as fishing from a vessel. But there are PLENTY of hot-spots to pop a Inshore Grand Slam (snook, redfish, trout combo) or even going crabbing! I won't blow up your spot don't worry! But Check out the WORLDS MOST FISHED BRIDGE just outside of cape coral in Matlacha or Just ask your friendly Bait and Tackle shop owner!
20. Catch a High School Football Game - Yea for real. If your a fan of sports, lots of home-bread talent over the years have made it Pro! Ya never know when you will be telling your kids about the Hof'ers you used to Watch at NFM Home Games on Friday Night at "Prime Time" (see what I did there)
